Emmy Moon

Artistic Director/Owner

Emmy graduated from Collin College with her Associate of Arts Degree in Dance and then went on to complete her Bachelors in Dance from the University of Texas in Austin. Emmy was introduced to aerial dance at UT when she was selected to perform in an installation piece with rope and harnesses and quickly after, started silk training at Blue Lapis Light in Austin, TX.  Immediately after college, Emmy was invited to dance with Aerial Dance Chicago where she was a core company dancer. She continued her training in Los Angeles  in order to train and work closely with Aerial Experience Productions(AEP) and Arise Aerial Dance. She currently still works with AEP for special events and corporate shows around the world.

Emmy has performed for the Toshiba International Conference, Midnight Circus, Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Hewlett Packard, “Imagine Christmas” Touring Show, “Stories from the Shack” Touring Show, Lockport Exchange Circus, as a featured aerialist in an international LG Washing Machine commercial and at the Irish Aerial Dance Festival.  She has also received her training at Aloft Circus Arts, the Aerial Dance Festival in Ireland and Boulder and with Tara Ogren on the Cloud Swing.

 Emmy was recently invited to be one of the silks judges for the first ever Miss Texas Polestar Aerial Arts Competition in Dallas Texas in October of 2012. Emmy’s choreography has been shown around the United States in Austin, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta and Denver for numerous events. Her choreography was selected for the Gala show at the American College Dance Festival in 2006. In 2011, Emmy, featuring Iluminar Aerial, was selectively invited to be a part of the Alumni Dance Fusion Show in Plano Texas, highlighting former students that have broken ground in the professional dance world.

Travis Moon

Executive Director/Owner

Growing up, Travis  participated in numerous competitive sports and martial arts training. In high school, he joined the JROTC, Junior Reserve Officer Training Course, which provided him an education in discipline, respect and leadership techniques.  JROTC propelled his interest in learning other military techniques like rock climbing, rappelling and knot tying. He discovered aerial arts as the perfect way to pursue all of his hobbies and ambitions.

Travis started his aerial training under the direction of Emmy Moon and together they created Iluminar Aerial. Travis has continued his training with Blue Lapis Light, Wise Fool, the Aerial Dance Festival in Ireland and Boulder, and rope with Daniel Sullivan, Josh Rigo, Lisa Natoli, Rachel Strickland and Shayna Swanson. He has had the privilege to teach and perform at many different events around the United States and in Ireland.

He has had the privilege to perform at many different events around the world including the Dance Fusion show at Collin College, Lockport Exchange Circus in New York, and at the Irish Aerial Dance Festival.

Marci Wojciechowski

Core Company Dancer

Marci is going into her 4th season with Iluminar Aerial and has been dancing since age five and has trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, modern, hip-hop. While dancing at the University of Colorado she graduated with a degree in Kinesiology, she later attended The George Washington University where she obtained Masters degrees in Public Health as well as Heath Sciences.  She has performed with various companies in Florida, Colorado, New York and Washington D.C.  Marci spends her time outside of dance working as a physician assistant in trauma surgery, spending time with family, friends, her pup Layla and traveling as much as possible.

Bringing together the science of the human body with the grace and strength it has the potential to possess is truly an amazing gift.  Marci is lucky to have a career that focuses on healing and the mechanics and chemistry of the body as well as dancing in the ground and in the air to further physical health, creativity and artistry.

Fallon Voorheis-Mathews

Core Company Dancer

Fallon, a Colorado native, is starting her 4th season with Iluminar Aerial. She started taking gymnastics lessons when she was 3 years old after her mom caught her hanging off of their 3rd floor balcony. She was a competitive gymnast for most of her childhood and adolescent life. While attending Mesa State College she taught at Grand Junction Gymnastics Academy while working on a minor in dance.  She was introduced to the art of aerial dance in 2010 and immediately was hooked as it combines her passion for gymnastics and dance.  She has trained at Frequent Flyers as a member of the apprentice company. She has also studied with Tanya Burka of Cirque du Soleil, Annabelle D’Artois of Cocoon Aerial Dance, and with the Imperial Flyers High Flying Trapeze Club.

Shannon “Luna” Squires

Core Company Dancer

Shannon discovered hands-on aerial arts while attending Florida State University after years of admiring Cirque du Soleil artists, and joined the Florida State University Flying High Circus as a dancer in 2009. Through her experience, she became fascinated with the idea of bringing the grounded artistry of dance to the air. After graduation with a degree in International Affairs and French, the continued to work in higher education and recently moved to Colorado to continue her education and advance her career. In Colorado, she has trained with both Aerial Fabric Acrobatics and Iluminar Aerial on aerial fabric, trapeze, and lyra. Shannon also had the opportunity to learn stage flight, and co-teach a workshop at the Aerial Fabric Acrobatics Festival in 2014. Dancing since age 6, she has trained in classical ballet, lyrical ballet, jazz, tap, and hip hop. Finding a way to incorporate both dance and aerial acrobatics has been an amazing and passionate journey into the aerial arts, a thrilling blend of fitness and freedom of expression. Shannon will be starting her 2nd season with Iluminar Aerial.

Cecilia Potter

Core Company Dancer

Cecilia Potter is from Massachusetts, where her interests in theatre and dance first developed. Cecilia graduated Cum Laude from Elon University with a BA in Theatre Studies and a dance minor. Cecilia completed one year in the MFA Dance program at the University of Oregon. In grad school, she researched dance fusion—particularly between contemporary dance, hip hop, and traditional Philippine dance. In addition to performing in several faculty and student works, Cecilia performed at the American College Dance Festival (ACDF) Regionals in Missoula, MT and the ACDF Nationals in Washington, DC at the Kennedy Center. Currently, Cecilia dances with contemporary company BRIAH Danse. She teaches dance in the Boulder Valley and St. Vrain Valley School Districts with Kidz in Locomotion and is a fitness instructor at The Dailey Method.

Megan Stern

Core Company Dancer

As a child, Megan never participated in dance or sports. Instead, her love of science and adventure compelled her to study and travel the globe. Once she earned a degree in Biology from the University of Colorado at Denver and set off to discover the world. After completing a contract working at a scientific research base in McMurdo, Antarctica she returned to Denver looking for her next conquest. In the summer of 2010 she encountered a flier for an aerial fabrics class and her life was forever changed. Since that fateful day Megan has trained, performed and taught with several Colorado based aerial groups including Aerial Fabric Acrobatics and Relevé Aerial Dance. In the past year she has expanded her aerial training to include straps, rope and the study of flexibility training. Megan particularly loves that the practice of aerial fabric allows her to explore different ways to express herself through movement. She is very excited to begin her first season with Iluminar Aerial.

Samantha McKinney

Core Company Intern

Samantha originally hails from South Louisiana and has been living in Colorado for the past 5 years. She has a degree in Visual Arts from Loyola University New Orleans and is currently pursing a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition. Samantha began her circus training in New York in 2008 and continues to be passionate about sharing the art form with others through teaching, performing and other outreach opportunities. In addition to her work with Iluminar, she is the founder of Cirque VooDoo, a New Orleans based acrobatic performance company. Samantha is excited to join the Iluminar family as Professional Company Intern for the 2015/2016 season!

Jamey Atchinson

Guest Dancer

Jamey grew up in Alaska and was a competitive figure skater until the age of 18. He then joined Disney on Ice where he performed in more than 30 countries over 7 years. After touring, he moved to Denver to pursue a degree in biology and chemistry. Retiring from a performance based career was hard for him so he sought out a new way to express himself. The solution turned out to be aerial acrobatics. He had minimal training while on tour but decided to take the leap and began intensively training aerial silks with Aerial Fabric Acrobatics in 2011. Since then he has been performing around the Denver metro area at art galleries, night clubs, burning man parties, world dance shows and corporate events. His circus interests have since expended to include corde lisse and duo trapeze. He has been performing with his wonderful trapeze partner, Samantha McKinney, since 2014.
